POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
鉄板バル 心. sin
A teppan bar in Nishitanabe serving potato salad in an ice-cream cone, salted chicken gizzards and ajillo. Drop in for a solo drink at the counter or settle in for dinner with wine and small plates.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
The potato salad served in an ice-cream cone is a dish some diners say they return to order time and again at Teppan Bar Shin. sin. Reviewers have praised how well it goes with the cone, and one recommended the generous serving topped with a large cone. It makes a distinctive-looking first plate.
For a teppan favourite, try the chicken gizzards grilled with salt. One diner said they were so delicious they changed their impression of gizzards; their springy texture makes them a good match for a drink. The menu also lists seared wagyu beef, with one diner recalling its especially memorable rare finish.
To broaden the meal, choose ajillo with shrimp and squid, oysters or 2 kinds of mushrooms. The menu lists an extra serving with bread and vegetables for +200 yen. It can make a good centrepiece for dinner alongside a few small plates. Diners have praised the ajillo, and one mentioned that butter came with the bread they ordered as an extra.
Drinks include beer, fruit chu-hai and red or white wine by the glass; the bar also advertises a wide wine selection. Some diners come alone for a drink at the counter, while others have enjoyed chatting with friends. Closed on Wednesdays, the bar opens from 17:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 14:00 on Mondays, from 17:00 on Fridays, and from 12:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.
